What Happens After I Submit My Résumé?

Step 1 — Submit Your Résumé

You can submit your résumé at any time throughout the year.
 

We hold scheduled volunteer interview rounds three times each calendar year — February, June and October.
 

Applications are generally reviewed approximately four weeks before each interview period.
 

If you submit your résumé outside of these review periods, don't worry — we will keep your application on file for consideration during the next scheduled intake.
 

Step 2 — Complete Your Questionnaire

After submitting your résumé, you will receive an email containing a short questionnaire to complete and return.
 

This helps us learn a little more about you, your qualifications, professional experience, availability and what you are hoping to gain from the Volunteer Counselling Program.
 

Please ensure you complete and submit the questionnaire so that your application can progress to the review stage.
 

Step 3 — Application Review

Approximately four weeks before our February, June and October interview rounds, we review the applications received for the upcoming intake.
 

Following this review, you will receive an email advising you of one of two outcomes:
 

• Approved to Interview, or

• Not Selected for Interview at This Time

Please note that a decision not to progress to an interview is not a reflection of you personally or your suitability as a counsellor.

Selection decisions may be influenced by factors such as current client availability, location alignment, service capacity, the needs of our client group, or overall program fit at the time your application is reviewed.

Because these factors can change between intake periods, the needs of the program at one point in time may be quite different at another.

Step 4 — If You Are Approved to Interview

If you are selected to progress, your Approved to Interview email will contain a link to the available interview times.

You will be able to select the interview time that works best for you and will receive the relevant Zoom details for your interview.

The interview is an opportunity for us to learn more about you and your professional goals — and equally, for you to learn more about Redefine Life, how the Volunteer Counselling Program works and whether it feels like the right professional fit for you.
 

Step 5 — Following Your Interview

Following the interview process, successful applicants will receive information about the next stages of joining the program, including relevant checks, documentation, orientation and commencement arrangements.
